WalMart at 40/42 Picked as New Southeast Training Academy

The Wal-Mart Supercenter on N.C. 42 in Garner has been chosen to become a new southeast training academy. So, what exactly is the training academy program? It’s the retailer’s national effort to train front-line supervisors as well as store managers across the country.

The Garner training academy will be the first one in North Carolina and the 24th one in the nation. Once they filed a $406,000 building permit, Wal-Mart began to expand the store to meet the needs of the new training academy.

There will be eight full-time trainers on staff who will have the ability to train up to 90 associates each week. The Garner training academy will serve as the hub for training in the surrounding Garner area.

During the trainings, WalMart will focus on classroom and on-floor training to help development manager and assistant managers gain the knowledge and skills they need to provide better customer service. Wal-Mart has a customer first mentality, where all employees are encouraged to listen to, anticipate, and serve customer needs and wants.

They are also frontline focused and empower associates to make life easier for their customers and encourage creativity as well as smart risk taking. In addition, Wal-Mart values integrity, honesty, fairness, and courage.

The company hopes to encourage people to participate in its training programs by increasing employee compensation. Aside from higher pay, Wal-Mart partnered with the Guild Education to to give associates the chance to earn degrees in business or supply chain management for only $1 per day. Wal-Mart takes care of the rest of the costs and fees. Also, associated may earn college credit by participating in the retailer’s paid training program.

Wal-Mart is a huge corporation, employing 57,000 people across North Carolina with Sam’s Club, it’s wholesale retailer. It is constantly looking for ways to improve its customer service and offerings.
