TopGolf Could Be Coming to Durham

If your family loves to golf or is looking for a new, exciting way to spend some quality time together, you’ll be thrilled to know that TopGolf may be making its debut in Durham. If you’ve never heard of TopGolf before, you may be wondering what it is.

Essentially, TopGolf is a premier golf entertainment complex where you can hit micro-chipped golf balls at giant dartboard targets on an outfield. The closer your ball makes it to the bullseye and the further your distance, the more points you’ll earn.

Of course, that’s not all that TopGolf has to offer. While you’re enjoying this new twist on golf with your family, you can enjoy some delicious food and drinks. If you don’t book a session in advance, no problem.

You can just show up, check in, and wait until there’s enough room for you and your family to get started. Once it’s your group’s turn to play, you’ll get your playing cards and golf bars and be well on your way to having a great time.

Word on the street is that TopGolf may be come near Page Road and Interstate 40 in Durham next to Research Triangle Park. There’s no timeline of when this may happen as of now but everyone in the Durham golf community is excited about the possibility and hoping for more concrete dates soon. Note that ground has not broken therefore construction lawyers are likely still in the negotiating process.

While the TopGolf complex would cost about $25 million, it would create about 450 jobs, a third which would be full-time jobs. Currently, there are 56 TopGolf locations in the United States, including one in Charlotte that opened its doors in 2016.

With TopGolf in the area, golf lovers as well as families and individuals from all walks of life will have another exciting entertainment option to choose from so we’re keeping our fingers crossed and hoping this plan comes to life.
