Alline Howell Owen, a 65 year native of Broad Street in Angier, in front of the water tank, died December 28, 2012 at the age of 96. She was the widow of Fred Madison Owen who died in 1979. She and Fred loved calling Angier home with their wonderful friends. They were members of Angier Baptist Church. Alline graduated from Lafayette High School and Red Purcell School of Cosmetology. She was awarded Yard of the Month twice by the Ambassador Homemakers Extension Club of Angier. Alline always displayed, and was a good example of, sensible frugality learned during the Great Depression and WWII, in which Fred served.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan O. Wortham and husband, Larry, of Fuquay-Varina; son, W. Frederick Owen and wife, Diane, of Oxford; grandchildren, Jennifer Wortham Will and husband, Joel, of Apex, William Fredrick Owen, Jr. of Raleigh, and Marshall Owen Wortham of Fuquay-Varina; and one great-grandson, Thomas Emerson Will.

Alline was the seventh of nine children of W.D. and Nottie Howell, born May 3, 1916 and raised in the Baptist Grove Community in Fuquay. The third child of Fred and Alline, Timothy Wayne Owen, died as an infant in 1958.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 30 at 3 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, located at 401 North Ennis St. in Fuquay-Varina. A private burial was held Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Thanks to all who passed her way and cared!

Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at www.thomasfuneral.com.
