Gloria Rose Stanley Alexander

Mrs. Gloria Rose Stanley Alexander, 50, of Angier died of natural causes December 15, 2012 at her home. She was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late J.C. Stanley and Joann Hobson Partin. Gloria always had a soft spot in her heart for abandoned dogs. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held at O’Quinn-Peebles on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 28 years, Johnny Alexander; son, Jonathan Matthew Alexander of Angier; mother, Joann Hobson Partin of Lillington; sister, Jenny Nedrow and husband Charles of Sanford; brother Harvey Blanchard of Angier; Nieces, Emily Worden and Natalie Blanchard; nephews, Joseph Nedrow and Jay Blanchard; and great niece, Laci Worden.

Deborah McSain Eagleson

Deborah McSain Eagleson, 57, died Saturday, December 8, 2012. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N Ennis St., Fuquay-Varina, N.C. Family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service.

Deborah was a wonderful and loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her four daughters, Suzanne Olive and husband, Jeff, Betsy Hightower and husband, Carroll, Jackie Eagleson and Terri Eagleson; mother, Betty McSain; brothers, Steven, Mark, Thomas, Peter and Christopher McSain; and two grandchildren, Braeden Eagleson and Sydney Olive.

Louise Evelyn LaPlante

Louise Evelyn LaPlante, 83, died December 9, 2012 in the comfort of her home.

She was born January 7, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Evelyn Sabovik.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, of Fuquay-Varina and her brother, Robert Sabovik, of Lima, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne M. and Joseph W. Gavis and special grandson, Hunter of Fuquay-Varina; son and daughter-in-law, Mark S. and Kathy LaPlante of Kingston, N.Y.; granddaughters, Jennifer and Stephanie and her great-grandchildren.

Louise was a warm, caring person who never met a stranger. She could chat with anyone and had a genuine love for people and friendship. Her warm heart and spirit will always be remembered. A private family service will be held. Louise had a love for flowers, so plant a rose bush in her memory or make a donation to your favorite charity. Allen J. Matthews

Mr. Allen J. Matthews, 78, of Lillington died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Junie and Effie Vaughn Matthews. Allen was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Wimberly and Mozelle McLaughlin; and a brother, C.T. Matthews. He retired from Modern Lightening Protection Company after more than 55 years of service to the company.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Baker Matthews; two sons, Jeffrey Matthews of Lillington and James “Skeeter” Matthews and wife Denise of Lillington; one granddaughter, Brittany Matthews; three great grandchildren; sisters, Margie Ammons and Mildred Bradshaw, both of Coats; and brothers, Billy Ray Matthews of Lillington; Cliff Matthews of Coats; Joe Matthews of Erwin. The family received friends at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Tuesday, December 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. and other times at his home.

Doris Louise Matthews

Doris Louise Matthews, 88, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012. A Memorial service was held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Kipling United Methodist Church. Inurnment followed at Olive Branch Cemetery in Kipling, N.C.

She was the adopted daughter of the late Claude Turner and Katherine Grady Matthews.

Miss Matthews graduated from Lafayette School in Kipling and attended Campbell Business School in Buies Creek. She became known by many while working as a trained nurse assistant to the late Dr. A. G. Crumpler of Fuquay. She helped co-found the Fuquay-Varina Chapter for the N.C. Professional Credit Women’s Association. She held various positions at the local and state level including office of President. She was a lifetime member of the Kipling United Methodist Church where she served as a primary sunday school teacher and also sang in the choir for many years. Later in life she became an office receptionist for J. P. Honeycutt, Jr. DDS in Fuquay-Varina.

She was a lady who lived by principles of her faith, vision and courage. A lady of highest integrity and of word and deed who will be greatly missed by all her friends.

Miss Matthews is survived by her adopted family, Teresa Williams and her husband, Ronnie and their children, Joshua Williams and wife, Lisa and Clayton Williams; and their granddaughter, Allie Laine Williams.

William “Fuzzy” Astor Norris, Jr.

William “Fuzzy” Astor Norris, Jr., 73, of Angier, N.C., went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2012. Fuzzy was born to the late William A. Norris, Sr. and Vada Norris of Angier, N.C.

Along with his parents, Fuzzy was predeceased by his brothers, Carlie, Joe and Roger Matthews; sister, Eletha Cotten; and sons Wayne Norris and Tony Wilson. Fuzzy is survived by his wife, Kay Wall Norris; son, Mark Wilson; daughter, Penny Schultz; brothers, Bobby Matthews, Sr., and Sherwood Matthews; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church located at 1128 South Main St. in Fuquay-Varina.

Clifford L. “Jack” Wade

Mr. Clifford L. “Jack” Wade, 91 of Lillington died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington. A native of Harnett County, Jack was the son of the late Malcolm Bright and Lula Mae Morrison Wade. He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Spivey Wade and a daughter, Phyllis Gwartney. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. Following his service in the Armed Services, he farmed and worked with the N.C. Department of Transportation, retiring after 20 years of service.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Terry Williams officiated. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Ralph and Sylvia Bellflower.

Jack is survived by daughters Sylvia Bellflower and husband Ralph of Lillington and Brenda Wade of Lillington, son Billy Wade and wife Renee of Angier, sister Gladys Henderson of Oxford, grandchildren Frankie Bellflower, Donna Myatt, Kenny and Michael Vanderpool, Donald Gwartney, Aaron and Allison Wade and eight great grandchildren.
