Donald L. “Donnie” Suggs, 55, of Lillington died suddenly Monday, June 11, 2012 at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn. A native of Harnett County, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Horace Ausley. Donnie served as Assistant Fire Chief with the Summerville Fire and Rescue Department and also served as a Harnett County Fire Department Honor Guard. He was an Assistant Scout Master of Troop # 61 in Lillington. Donnie was a member of Lillington Masonic Lodge #301 and the Harnett County Shrine Club. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired as Master Sergeant in 1999. He was an employee of Pfizer Corporation of Sanford.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at Lillington Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Mason Suggs; son, Johnathan Suggs of Lillington; mother, Hilda Ausley of Lillington; brother, Ronald Suggs of Lillington.
