“We want all the children to participate on a team sport,” Executive Director Ed I. McCauley said from the FVAA office at 525 N. Main Street. “This keeps them off the street as well as giving them the feeling if being a team player.”
He said there will be fun, fellowship and new friends to make at the ballgames this fall.
“We’ve had a long, hot summer and everyone is ready for the cool, crisp days and evenings of fall, filled with school and games.”
The FVAA, a non-profit organization, handles the youth sports for the Town of Fuquay-Varina. The Association is able to provide these activities by partnering with the Town, using town facilities for sporting events.
“Our goal is to provide a fun, safe environment for children and families to enjoy the programs, learn how to play different sports and learn the skills of leadership and team play,” McCauley said. “We pride ourselves in running a well-organized program that brings players, businesses and visitors together to make Fuquay-Varina a great place to be!”
Family membership to the FVAA is required to participate in the sports programs. Yearly rates are $40 for residents that live in the city limits and $65 for all others. Members are encouraged to attend the monthly board meetings and have one vote for each board election.
