Board names principals

At its August 10 meeting, the Board of Education named Therman L. Flowers principal at Reedy Creek Middle. The board named retired principal Ed Gainor as interim principal at North Ridge Elementary and retired principal Charles Langley to continue as interim principal at West Lake Middle.

Flowers has served as principal of Pearsontown Elementary in Durham. Prior to that, he was principal of Millbrook Elementary and earlier was a teacher at Apex Elementary. He has also served as a principal, assistant principal and Principal's Fellow Intern at schools in Durham and Guilford counties.

Gainor retired as principal of Leesville Road Elementary. Since then, he has served as an interim principal at Green Elementary, Wakefield Elementary and York Elementary.

Langley retired as principal of Willow Springs Elementary. Since then, he has served as an interim principal at West Lake Middle, Middle Creek Elementary, North Ridge Elementary and West Lake Elementary.

The board named a number of assistant principals including Patricia Abel at Athens Drive High, Kimberly Collins at Green Hope High, Robert James at East Wake School of Arts, Education and Global Studies, James Nelson at Longview High, Susan Taylor at Panther Creek High, Maria Ventura at Knightdale High, Kathryn Hutchinson at East Millbrook Middle, Jennifer Pitarra at Leesville Road Middle, Patricia Bryant at Lacy Elementary, Teresa Caswell at Lead Mine Elementary and Holly Shaw at Forest Pines Elementary. Kathy Livengood was named a 50% assistant principal and 50% instructional resource teacher at Holly Ridge Middle. Rhonda Curtis was named a 50% assistant principal and 50% intervention teacher at Laurel Park Elementary.
