The Fuquay-Varina Fire Department is joining our local country music radio station in continuing the work of Mr. Lyle Tucker. He began the Caps for Cancer drive while fighting his own battle with colon cancer.

He was a member of a support group called Living with Cancer and one night during a meeting they discussed some of the negative aspects of having cancer. One person stated that losing their hair was a major negative and Mr. Tucker took it upon himself to put together a drive to collect caps for these patients that are losing their hair due to their cancer treatments.

On July 3, 2010, Mr. Tucker lost his battle with colon cancer and his wife and son wish to continue his efforts.

Please donate your new or gently worn caps but please do not include caps with alcohol/tobacco logos on them per Mr. Tucker’s family. These caps will go to Duke Raleigh Cancer Center patients. The last day for drop off will be July 23 so the Fire Dept. can deliver them to WQDR studios on Monday July 26. Thank you all for your support!
