711.8 pounds of food was collected, sorted, transported and stored at the office of Western Wake Crisis Ministry in Apex until the group can distribute it. When sorted into family unit packages, this is enough to serve 14 families for a month. According to reports from Western Wake, there were 101 families from Holly Springs served in May. “Because of the large demand currently being met by Western Wake and the Fuquay Food Cupboard, we will need twice as much as collected last Saturday each week. Please continue to support this volunteer effort by having food drives within your organizations, encouraging business support, and bringing nonperishable food items to the drop off boxes,” says Carol Moran. The group has worked with local business to establish drop off locations located at Holly Springs Town Hall, Fonville Morisey Realty Office on Sunset Lake Road and the office of Michelle Sosnowski, CPA, PLLC at 132 Raleigh St. Distribution is scheduled to begin one afternoon each week in September from the parking lot of Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
Donations in the form of checks made out to Western Wake Crisis Ministry with Holly Springs Food Cupboard on the memo line may be sent to Holly Springs Food Cupboard, PO Box 268, Holly Springs, NC, 27540. The group has a website: www.hsfoodcupboard.org or interested persons can call by phone: Pat Haggard 662-0892 or Carol Moran 557-7503.
