FUQUAY-VARINA, WAKE COUNTY, NC- Gingerbread LittleVersity, a five star, family-owned childhood education provider, celebrates its thirty year anniversary on June 8, 2010. Gingerbread LittleVersity, opened by a high school teacher with small children who noticed there was not local adequate care for her preschool aged children, is the first privately owned large childcare provider to have emerged in the area during the pioneering years of the “out of home” childcare movement. Since its founding on June 8, 1980 Gingerbread LittleVersity, formerly known as Children’s Korner, has delivered quality childcare and preschool with a “learning is fun” approach to the Fuquay-Varina community.
“Over the last thirty years, Gingerbread LittleVersity has remained strong throughout the many changes in the economic climate,” said Kelli Ketner, co-owner and General Manager of Gingerbread LittleVersity. “I attribute our success to two things: First, a strong trust built over the years with parents in our community. A large portion of our parents are alumni of Gingerbread LittleVersity. We care for the children of the children who once attended Gingerbread LittleVersity as a child. Second, the standards that we uphold are the highest in the childcare industry as all three of our locations are five star rated and we are working toward meeting NAEYC standards, national accreditation at our original location at 211 Railroad Street.”
“As life long members of the Fuquay-Varina community we continually strive to meet the needs of our families,” said Kelli Ketner. We offer swimming lessons to our students and open it up to the community. Each summer hundreds of children have learned to swim at our on-site swimming pool. Another need that has evolved with technology growth is the amount of care parents request. The days of full time care needed due to an eight to five job has changed to part time care needed of a few hours a day or a few days a week. “Gingerbread has met that need with its GingerFlex Program that provides flexible childcare options for families.”
Gingerbread LittleVersity has won local recognition as being voted the best childcare provider in town by the community numerous times. “It has been a privilege to offer high quality care to this area. We have had a fantastic 30 years, and we want to thank all of our children, parents and staff that have made it all possible. We look forward to continuing to serve Fuquay-Varina parents for many years to come,” says Libby Crumpton, owner and founder. “I’m extremely fortunate to earn a living doing something that I am passionate about, children and education.”
