It is an independent English drama that has moments of laughter. The movie stars Steve Evets (also in Robin Hood) as a single dad just getting through life with teenage boys. He is trying to do the right thing but going crazy as life deals him blow after blow.
While going through this life he ends up talking to his visualized hero Eric Cantona. Eric Cantona, for those of us who don’t follow soccer, was voted Manchester United's player of the century and is affectionately nicknamed "King Eric". He once again incited controversy by declaring that he would be supporting England at the World Cup in South Africa and not his native team France Les Bleus. One of Erics boys gets in some trouble (big trouble) and Eric proves that he can take care of any problem especially with the help from his friends. Eric Cantona helped Eric find himself and what he believes in. This is a movie that teens through adults will enjoy, be it woman or man. Lots of “F” bombs so you will have to determine if your teen can see it (only 1 split sec of nudity shown on a TV screen otherwise its only language and scare tactics). I think a good date night but it’s not a chick flick. It is a film that your hubby will actually want to see.
DVD Pairing Suggestion: INVICTUS (2009)
It just so happens the this week’s outdoor film at the art museum is The Damned United… a 2009 British sports drama film directed by Tom Hooper and adapted by Peter Morgan from David Peace's bestselling novel The Damned Utd, a largely fictional book based on the author's interpretation of Brian Clough's tenure as manager of Leeds United. It was produced by BBC Films and Left Bank Pictures.
