Celebrate Fuquay-Varina this weekend with a concert on Friday night and then come downtown for a festival jammed packed with activity on Saturday. Last year, more than 10,000 people attended the event that celebrates Fuquay-Varina’s community, culture and people.

Jim Quick and Coastline Band get the festival started on Friday, June 4th with a free concert on Raleigh Street from 8:00-11:00 pm. Dance under the stars on the streets of downtown Fuquay-Varina to great Top 40 and Beach Music. Remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

On Saturday, June 5th the festival will be held in both historic Fuquay and Varina from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. There will be plenty of ways to celebrate on Saturday, June 5th so make sure to plan your day. A festival brochure, which includes parking and shuttle maps, is available at www.CelebrateFV.com. The best way to get to the festival is to park your car at either the Fuquay-Varina Community Center or Fuquay-Varina High School and take a free shuttle to the festival.

Get your day started with the Chamber of Commerce’s Run the Quay 5k at 8:30 am at the Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church or the Mayor’s walk starting at the Entertainment Tent on Main Street. Magician Michael Creech, Comedian David Ferrell, and Fuquay-Varina’s home town band Strictly Dixie will perform throughout the day. Take in the King BMX Stunt Show or a variety of local performers. Visit with Bob & the Showgram or play Bingo. Kids will love all the carnival rides, inflatables, Mimi the Clown, face painting, children’s entertainment and climbing the 4-sided rock wall.

There’s also Fuquay-Varina Downtown’s Celebration of the Arts with more than 85 vendors, the Fuquay Cruiser’s classic car show and tons of food. Get a free souvenir bottle of water at the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm or visit the Fuquay History Museum to learn more about the town’s past.

On Saturday, Main Street will be closed to motor traffic from Academy to Spring Street and on adjacent side streets. In Varina, Durham Street and parts of Fayetteville Street will be closed to motor traffic. Finally, Town of Fuquay-Varina ordinance prohibits animals in the event area, so please leave your animals comfortably at home.
