Celebrate Fuquay-Varina, the Town of Fuquay-Varina’s festival celebrating the town’s community, culture and people is about to get bigger and better. That’s saying something given the fact that more than 10,000 people attended last year’s one-day event which is held annually the first weekend in June. This year, a free Friday night concert is being added to the festival which already boasts a wide-variety of entertainment on Saturday, June 5th. (See related article in today’s paper.) “Due to the enormous success of last year’s festival, town staff felt there was enough momentum to add a Friday night concert this year,” said Town Manager Andy Hedrick.

Jim Quick & Coastline Band will headline the Friday, June 4th concert kicking off the Celebrate Fuquay-Varina festival from 8:00-11:00 pm on Raleigh Street in downtown Fuquay-Varina. Coastline performs more than 300 concerts a year throughout the country playing a combination of Top 40 and Beach Music sure to please area music lovers. The concert is generously sponsored by Narron Contracting, Inc. and organized by the Fuquay-Varina Department of Parks & Recreation. Woody Harvey, Director of the Parks & Recreation Department, advises people to bring a lawn chair to the concert for their own personal comfort. “The stage will be set-up on Raleigh Street, which will make for good street dancing but may not be great for sitting on the ground.”

Celebrate Fuquay-Varina is a family festival, so pack up the kids and bring them downtown to the concert. While you’re in downtown, make sure to grab a bite to eat prior to the concert at one of the great restaurants, coffee houses, bakeries, or other fine establishments located in either of Fuquay-Varina’s two historic downtown districts. Then put on your dancing shoes and get ready to boogie under the stars in downtown Fuquay on Raleigh Street to the sounds of Jim Quick & Coastline at 8:00 pm.
