According to Michael Sorensen, Planning Director with the Town of Fuquay-Varina, 77% of Fuquay-Varina’s residents have mailed back their 2010 Census form. That’s a 5% increase over the town’s 2000 Census mail-in rate of 72%. Fuquay-Varina’s participation rate is slightly higher than North Carolina’s overall rate of 74% and the national rate of 72%.

For those that did not complete their form, a Census taker will soon be knocking on your door. A census taker is a person from our community who is hired by the Census Bureau to make sure that your neighborhood gets represented as accurately as possible. The census taker's primary responsibility is to collect census information from residences and will have official identification and a black workbag with “U.S. Census Bureau” on it. The census taker will only ask questions that appear on the census form.

By being counted in the 2010 Census, you are standing up for what your community's needs are. The census helps determine our community’s share of more than $300 billion nationwide in federal funds annually for schools, healthcare, roads, hospitals and other community projects and services.
