The Yard Sale will be held inside the church with larger items such as furniture outside the church. Food items for sale include ham biscuits, juice, coffee, baked goods and desserts. Some of the new or gently used items include kids’ clothing and shoes, toys and board games, video and computer games, men’s tools and sporting equipment, baby items such as strollers and car seats, home gym equipment, bed linens and towels, bikes and luggage and much more. Also available are adult clothing for men and women plus women’s purses and costume jewelry. Home items include appliances, furniture and accessories such as lamps and pictures.
Tips for making the most of your shopping spree are to come early for the best selection; know what you are looking for and go for those items first; know clothing sizes particularly for children; wear comfortable clothing and shoes; and come in a van or truck if looking for larger items like furniture and appliances. Other tips are to shop off season by thinking what your family may need this fall such as coats and to think of gifts you may need now or later since some items for sale are new. The bargains are just waiting for you so bring the family, have breakfast and have fun finding those “need” items on your list.
The church folks putting on this Yard Sale have been doing this for several years and have gained a lot of expertise to make this a good shopping experience for you. They have learned how to aim for a higher quality church yard sale than might be typical by discarding broken or soiled items ahead of time and by making it easy for the shoppers to find and see what’s for sale. For example, most clothes are hung on racks; like things are grouped together and organized; price lists are easy to view; and things are well labeled. Best of all are the friendly volunteers always around to help you find what you are looking for. Their aim is to be helpful and make this fun and easy for the shopper.
All proceeds from this sale go toward funding a mission trip to Appalachia this summer where teams from Sunrise UMC will help families with much needed repairs and construction on their homes. So what you spend is going to help others as well as provide you with great bargains.
