Kids ages 5 to 12 are invited to learn all about insects through several hands-on activities at Lake Crabtree County Park. Kids will collect insects from a variety of habitats using different methods and try to identify them. This program is geared toward home-schooled students, but is open to all students. Kids ages 6 to 8 are invited to Blue Jay Point County Park to create watercolor Mother’s Day cards, while learning about different styles of mothering in the animal world. The fee is $8 per person. Saturday, May 15, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – May Fishing Fun Day
Bring the whole family out to Harris Lake County Park for the annual May Fishing Fun Day. The free event will include games, fishing and lots of fun. All ages are invited to fish with a rod of your own or with one provided by park staff. Kids ages 7 to 14 can participate in the N.C .Bass Federation’s "Reel Kids for College" casting contest.
