The NC DOT will be closing the eastbound ramp of I-40 at exit 312 on Saturday, May 1 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lanes along Highway 42 near the I-40 interchange will also be closed due to widening and paving projects, reducing traffic to one lane each way. Backups are expected, so drivers should try to avoid the area between those hours or find alternate routes.
