HOLLY SPRINGS – Holly Springs Kiwanians are again preparing for their biggest annual fundraiser. The 8th Kids Appreciation Day SnoBall Social will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2010, from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. at Womble Park Band Shelter. It is co-sponsored by the Town of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department.

Recently past donors and businesses in town and across Wake County received information on how they can sponsor and/or be a vendor for this fun, family-focused event. As in past events, there will be no vendor fees, but some restrictions apply. Sponsor donors are welcome and funds donated are used for youth leadership project initiatives in Holly Springs.

This fun, kid-friendly event was developed as an end-of-school-year celebration for Holly Springs’ kids, parents, business owners, and schools. The program for the event this year will again include giving out “Terrific Kids” certificates to children identified by their teachers, entertainment by local performers, and the very popular KA Day “Supporters of Youth” raffle. New this year will be a “Terrific Teacher” award. Holly Springs’ Mayor Dick Sears will again be the emcee of the program as the Chairman of the Kiwanis Board of Directors.

“This annual traditional event is crucial to our community’s youth. I enjoy fundraising for the various youth projects the Kiwanians bring to Holly Springs,” says Mayor Dick Sears who is a Holly Springs’ Kiwanis Charter Member. “Our business community has always been generous and very supportive of the Kiwanians effort to build the next generation of Holly Springs’ leaders and we expect them to be generous again this year.”

“Each year it just keeps getting better,” says Kiwanian Linda Hunt Williams, the event’s founder and chairman, “kids and their parents love the event, especially the KA Day “Supporters of Youth” raffle and the “Terrific Kids” ceremony. The level of generosity in our business community in donating money for sponsorships, in-kind donations, and raffle items is just awesome.”

“It was amazing, last year we had almost 2,000 attendees and close to 40 vendors at KA Day,” says Brian Adornetto, Kiwanian club president. “Our business community not only donated funds and raffle items, but some also joined in the celebration as vendors. It is a fun event and an advertising bargain for our business owners struggling in this economy.”

All children attending the event will get a free SnoBall, a piece of NY Pizza, a KA Day raffle ticket, and a lot of entertainment from vendors and F&M Entertainment’s blow up rides. The sponsorship funds will be used to support the event and Kiwanis youth leadership initiatives in Holly Springs.

All individuals or businesses interested in taking part in this end of the school year community celebration for kids are invited to sign up to be a vendor or become a sponsor of the event. There is no vendor fee, but you must register and there are some restrictions.
