BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University has set a full slate of activities surrounding its Hall of Fame weekend on Apr. 9-10. In addition to the induction ceremony and dinner, the weekend includes a golf outing, a home baseball series and the annual Campbell Spring football game.
Former conference players of the year Toni Siikala of the men’s soccer team and Joe Spinks of the men’s basketball squad will be inducted into the Campbell Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, Apr. 9 in a dinner ceremony at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center.
The weekend’s activities begin on Friday, Apr. 9 with the Hall of Fame golf outing at Keith Hills Country Club. Cost is $60 per person or $240 per foursome for the 11:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Campbell will also host Florida Gulf Coast in an Atlantic Sun Conference baseball game on Friday afternoon at Taylor Field.
Later than evening, Siikala and Spinks will be the 70th and 71st members inducted into the Campbell Sports Hall of Fame. The dinner and ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Pope Convocation Center. Dinner is $25 per person, or $160 for a table of eight.
On Saturday, Apr. 10, the weekend’s festivities continue with the spring football game at Barker-Lane Stadium. A pre-game BBQ lunch starts at 11:00 a.m. The annual spring football game kicks off at 12:00 noon. Admission to the football game is free. BBQ tickets are $7.50 each.
The busy weekend continues Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. baseball doubleheader between the Camels and Florida Gulf Coast at Taylor Field. Baseball game admission is $5 for adults, while children 12 and under are free.

Toni Siikala (’96) was Campbell’s first two-time men’s soccer All-American, earning the honors in both 1993 and 1995. He ranked third among the nation’s scoring leaders as a sophomore in 1993 when he totaled 60 points on 23 goals and 14 assists. Siikala also rated among the nation’s top-10 scoring leaders as a senior in ’95 when he tallied 56 points on 25 goals and 6 assists. A two-time first-team All-South Region selection (’93, ’95), the native of Seinajoki, Finland was named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year in ’95
In addition, Siikala was a 3-time, first-team all-conference (1993, ’94, ’95), 3-time Academic All-Conference Team member and selected as Campbell’s Outstanding Male Athlete for 1994-95. Following graduation, he played 3 years of professional soccer with the Raleigh Flyers, Hampton Roads Mariners and Charleston Battery.
Joe Spinks (’94) was selected the 1994 Big South Conference men’s basketball Player of the Year. A 4-time all-conference, he was also named the ’91 Big South Rookie of the Year and twice chosen for the Big South All-Tournament team. Spinks led CU to its only Big South title and NCAA men’s hoops tournament appearance in 1992)
During his senior year, Spinks led Campbell to its first-ever wins over an ACC (N.C. State) and SEC (South Carolina) school when program set school Division I era record with 20 wins. Following graduation, he played professionally in Europe. He was named Player of the Year in his league in Holland three years and also served as coach of Amsterdam Astronauts. Spinks was also inducted into the Big South Conference Hall of Fame in 2004.
