On Sunday, April 11, Brittany’s Battle, Inc. will host their 2nd Annual Boots, Bands, & Bulls benefit concert. This year’s line up includes 2009 Clayton Idol winner Scott McCreery of Garner, Nashville artist Kevin Lee from Henderson, NC, and national recording artist Jason Michael Carroll, from Wake Forest, NC. Jason’s latest chart-topping hit, Hurry Home, is number 13 on the country charts and still climbing. The day will be filled with entertainment for the whole family including great live country music performances, great food and drinks, and children’s entertainment, including carnival games and arts and crafts. The event will kick off at 1:30 p.m. with a performance by Mark Madden on the Kidz Zone stage. Mark’s roping skills will amaze children of all of ages. Also appearing in the Kidz Zone will be Michael Creech, magician extraordinaire, and Sybil the Clown.

This year’s emcee for the event will be Jimmy Weaver and the national anthem will be performed by Heather Britt Weaver. Both are from Garner and are part of the band Back N Time, North Carolina’s premier party band.

The benefit will be held at the Longbranch of Raleigh and will be a rain or shine event. Limited advanced tickets can be purchased online at www.BootsBandsandBulls.com. Special pre-sale pricing of only $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and military (must present valid ID at the door), and $5 for children six to 12 will be available until April 1 through etix.com. Children five and under are free!

Brittany’s Battle, Inc. was founded in honor of Brittany Coppedge, a 19 year-old Garner resident who lost her battle to lung cancer in 2006 while being treated at UNC. Brittany’s mother Tammy Coppedge recently said, “Our mission is to support families fighting their own battles with cancer, whether that be through financial support, providing them with resources and contacts, or just providing them with a few hours of fun entertainment.”

This year’s special guests will be families from the Ronald McDonald house of Chapel Hill. Brittany’s Battle primarily provides support for families in NC but they have assisted families across the country including South Carolina, Alabama, and even California. They hope to make their first donation to Lung Cancer Research in 2010.

This event is made possible by the generous support of many local businesses and sponsors including the Longbranch of Raleigh, E-Tix.com, and Ruppert Companies. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information contact Tammy Coppedge at (919) 621-2721 or TammyC@BrittanysBattle.org. Brittany Coppedge was a healthy, non-smoking young woman when, at 19 years-of age, she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. She was transferred to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC, where she spent three weeks battling for her life. Unfortunately, that was one battle that Brittany lost, just three days after Christmas 2006. When asked about Brittany’s Battle, Inc.’s mission, president and founder Tammy Coppedge notes, “We often rely on our friends and families to protect us from harm, provide comfort and support, and to be there in good and bad times. During Brittany’s illness, our own support system was amazing and now Brittany’s Battle, Inc. strives to provide that same support to other families battling cancer. Brittany led by example all her life and we intend to do no less.”
