Two Wake County middle school teachers faced suspension during the past week and Wake County School officials are not commenting on the reason for their suspension.

The first teacher to be suspended was Mardy Cutchin, a teacher at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. According to the school’s website Cutchin was a healthful living instructor at the school. He was suspended with pay on Thursday after a report of sexual misconduct. The alleged sexual misconduct occurred against a member of the girl’s Fuquay-Varina High School basketball team. Cutchin served as a coach for the team.

Wake County School Public Information Director Greg Thomas said he could confirm that Cutchin had been suspended with pay and was banned from any property belonging to the Wake County Public School System, but would not confirm any allegations against Cutchin. According to reports, Cutchin is married with three children.

The second teacher to be suspended was Melissa Hussain, an eighth-grade science teacher at West Lake Middle School in Apex. She was suspended on Friday. According to reports, Hussain allegedly wrote negative comments on her Facebook page about her students and their families.

Thomas said Hussain was also suspended with pay, but again could not discuss the specifics of the case.
