The Fuquay Varina Bengal started their wrestling season on November 2, 2009. The team has a lot of new faces this year, but looks to returning starters Robert Fernandez, Jarrod Miller, Chris Guimond, Jahel Carter, Soren Ferrell and Jordon Duncan to form a good foundation for his young team. .Thus far the Bengals have competed in several events, the latest being the Wildcat Duals held at West Johnson High School. The Bengals finished the duals tournament with a record of 3 wins and 2 loses, which secured them 5th place in the ten team tournament. On the way to the fifth place finish the Bengals defeated Grays Creek (48-32), Clinton (58-18), and Knightdale (45-33) High Schools, while suffering defeats to West Johnson (14-63) and conference rival Holly Spring (30-46). Bengals Robert Fernandez and Soren Ferrell both went undefeated for the day. Soren completed the day with first period pins in each of his five matches Returning starters Jahel Carter, Chris Guimond, Jarrod Miller each turned in inspiring performances and are off to a good start this season.

The Bengals began season without many of its starters that were members of the playoff participating football team, but did manage a win over Enloe High (42-39) in their first match of the season. The Bengals then went on to be defeated by Cary (0-78) and Panther Creek (9-58). A the Orange High Duals the Bengals finished with a record of 3 wins and 2 loses. In that tournament the Bengals ended the day with wins over East Chapel Hill (45-33), North Eat Guilford (45-39), and Durham School of the Arts (48-33). The two defeats were to Orange ((12-64) and East Forsyth (25-52).

The Bengal also participated in the Eagle Invitational at Western Harnet. The Bengals finished in 11th place. Chris Guimond and newcomer Drew O’Rourke participated in the finals of the individual tournament and finished fourth.
