Wake County has scheduled H1N1 vaccine clinics for December 7-11, 2009, for people in priority groups. The clinics will open daily as long as the County has sufficient vaccine supply 24 hours in advance. The clinics will be in Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina, Wake Forest and Zebulon, and will operate the following days and times:

· Monday, December 7, 2009 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

· Tuesday, December 8, 2009 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

· Wednesday, December 9, 2009 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

· Thursday, December 10, 2009 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

· Friday, December 11, 2009 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“For the last two months, we have opened H1N1 vaccination clinics when we received shipments of vaccine,” said Wake County Community Health Director Sue Lynn Ledford. “The shipments are coming in more regularly now, and we feel comfortable scheduling H1N1 vaccination clinics several days ahead of time. The daily schedule will allow people to come to the clinics whenever it is most convenient for them. If, for any reason, we do not have the necessary supply of vaccine shipment 24 hours before a clinic is scheduled to open, we will have to cancel them for that day and notify the public.”

The clinics will offer the nasal spray vaccine to people who are eligible to receive it within the priority groups. The injectable form of the H1N1 Vaccine will be available to individuals that cannot receive the nasal spray vaccine within the priority groups.

The following people are eligible to receive the FluMist nasal spray:

· Healthy children ages 2 to 24

· Healthy people who are 25 to 49 who live with or who care for infants younger than 6 months of age

· Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel who are medically eligible to take the FluMist

The following people are eligible to receive the injectable vaccine:

· Pregnant Women

· Children ages 6 month to 2 years

· Anyone ages 2 to 64 with chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system

“We strongly encourage people to first look to their private care providers and pharmacies to receive this vaccine,” said Ledford. “Over 119,800 doses have been distributed primarily to pediatricians, obstetricians and chain pharmacies in our community.”
