Ernest Wade Dixon, 94, of 5308 Beckwyck Dr., Fuquay-Varina, died peacefully at home Monday November 30th, 2009 surrounded by family. He was born September 21st, 1915 in Durham County, the son of James Floyd Dixon and Lula Mangum Dixon. He moved to the Carpenter Community of western Wake County in 1951 where he lived for over 50 years among family and friends. He moved to Fuquay-Varina in 2006 where he was again blessed with good neighbors and friends. A greater blessing in his life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved him as “Pappy.”

He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Good Hope Baptist Church since 1951. His entire working career was in the dairy business. He worked tenures with Durham Dairy, Long Meadow Farms, and Flav-O-Rich.

A graveside service will be held in the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday December 4th, at 1:00 pm. Rev. Keith Vaughn and Rev. Bobby Weatherspoon will officiate the services. A celebration of life service, followed by an opportunity to greet the family will be held in the church’s Family Life Center immediately following the graveside service.

Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Dawson Dixon in 1996. Surviving are his daughter, Iris D. (Polly) Edwards & her husband Bryan of Fuquay-Varina; two grandsons: Col. Chris Edwards & his wife Sabra of Camp Lejeune, and their children Lauren and Joseph, and Eric Ernest Edwards & his wife Carol of Raleigh, and their children Liam and Isabella. Also surviving is a sister, Daisy Tilley of Rocky Mount, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Wake County, or to the Good Hope Baptist Church Youth Ministry. Services are entrusted with Apex Funeral Directors, and online condolences may be made at www.apexfuneral.com.
