Each year, the students at Hilltop Christian School conduct an annual project called “Operation Thanksgiving.”

The goal each year is to provide meal boxes and turkeys to families in the Fuquay Varina area who could not otherwise afford to purchase a Thanksgiving meal. This project not only helps many families in need, it also provides a method for teaching the students to consider the needs of others in the community.

People who are truly thankful look beyond themselves and help others in need. The staff at HCS purposes to teach their students this valuable lesson through this annual hands-on student project. Most of the food was donated by students and parents, but a generous donation of turkeys from the Food Lion in Fuquay-Varina bolstered the drive.

Senior high students and parent volunteers helped organize the drive, and senior high students will deliver the food this week to homes throughout the community.

The principal, Travis Moots, was pleased to announce that the number of families assisted by the project is higher than last Thanksgiving, and pledges by donors for next year’s project promise to permit an even greater expansion of the project in the future.
