The Antique Automobile Club of America Vintage Brass Nickel Tour was in Fuquay-Varina last Wednesday, thanks in large part to the efforts of Jewell Ryals of Bostic-Wilson Antiques & Interiors and Becky Medlin of Century 21 Becky Medlin Realty. More than 90 cars manufactured prior to 1931 were part of this Antique Automobile Club of America Vintage Tour which includes registrants from 30 states. The car owners, their families and drivers were based in Fuquay-Varina for the week and traveled during the day to other towns. Their cars lined the Main Street in Fuquay Wednesday so local residents could enjoy them. The vintage tour was held the same evening as 100 Years on Parade which featured area residents in period costumes as one more way to celebrate Fuquay’s Centennial. At right are Nevy and Kerstin Clark of Savannah, Ga., who drove their 1927 open touring Chevy from Georgia to Fuquay-Varina to take part in the tour. They are dressed in 1920s fashion. Mr. Clark said they were impressed with the event. “We can’t believe how the whole town turned out to see it. And what good weather we are having - the mayor must have contacts,” Mr. Clark said. photo by janet kangas
