Linden, NC: Mr. Glenard Walter Bailey, age 87, of 3930 Toot Street, owner and operator of Lake Teresa, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at N. C. State Veteran’s Nursing Home in Fayetteville.

Funeral Service was on Thursday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 2900 Ebenezer Church Road, Coats, with the Rev. Pat Slomanski and Pastor Gray Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery with Masonic and Military rites.

Mr. Bailey was born May 2, 1922 in Johnston County to the late Luther Waylon and Zula Belle Medlin Bailey. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109 where he served as a past commander. Mr. Bailey was a farmer and served on the Veteran’s Teaching Program for Johnston County. He was a member of Relief Lodge #431 of the Masonic Order. Surviving include daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and Jeff Gilchrist of Conover and Lucinda Bailey of Fuquay-Varina; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lec Bailey of Benson; sisters, Ernestine Clodfelter of Hubert and Joyce Fleming of Cary; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Family received friends Thursday prior to service at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and other times at the home at Lake Teresa.
