Wake County Board of Education District Two Incumbent Horace Tart came in third in his attempt to recapture his seat. According to officials with the Wake County Board of Elections, 21 of the 21 voting precints have reported their results.

John Tedesco received the most votes with 49.38%. Tart did not even come in second. Cathy E. Truitt had the second highest amount of votes with 23.72 %.

However, Tedesco lacks the majority of votes that would means he will participate in a runoff next month.

According to the Wake County Board of Elections officials, there are 483,526 registered voters in Wake County and of those 52,197 cast their ballots for the October 6 election. The voter turnout was 10.80 %, election officials said.
