Mark Doble doesn’t waste time. A year or so ago he landed his family plane at the airport off Highway 401 in Fuquay-Varina. The landing was to evolve into a new business in his life. The result -- he opened the Aviator Brewing Company within one of the airport hangers, offering a new taste in homemade beers that immediately drew fans galore.

Saturday Doble drew added success when he expanded again, opening his own Aviator Tap House at 600 E. Broad Street in Fuquay -- filling a long bar area throughout the day with customers ordering a variety of homemade beers on tap.

For Doble, at 42 and a Holly Springs resident where he lives with wife Lianna and their four children, Jack, Nick, Connor and Jessica, it’s been a successful venture since he landed his family plane at the airport hangar. He bought the space at 5633-C Piper Drive and started Aviator Brewing Company selling to bars and restaurants throughout the Triangle.

Located at the Varina Station, he now also has a place that sells Aviator brews on tap, wine, root beer, and two cask ales. Mike Hanlon is general manager of the new Tap House operation where tasting tours offer customers free samples. .

“We really care about the beer we make,” Doble said. “We try to get people to understand what they’re drinking. “We’re all about quality. We make everything authentic and produce many different beer styles. We try to get people to understand what they’re drinking,” adding, “we’ve sold every drop of beer we’ve made.”

Classes in different types of beer will start in about a month on learning, sampling and commercial uses. A 1,700 square foot deck is also now under construction at the rear of the Varina Station building where live band music will be presented.

Tap House hours are Monday through Wednesday 3 to 12 p.m., Thursday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Sunday 12 noon to 10 p.m.
