You've seen him in the news and on the web...now visit the Barrel Monster in person during the Plant Delights Fall Open House weekends at the Juniper Level Botanic Gardens. A creature created from traffic barrels in a construction zone on Hillsborough Street this past spring, the Barrel Monster soon became a national sensation. The artist, Joe Carnevale, an NC State University student, has created a new monster especially for Plant Delights Nursery. The Barrel Monster will be featured during our upcoming Open House weekends, Sept. 11 - 13 and Sept. 18 - 20; Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Joe will also be available on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon to greet fans and sign autographs.

Plant Delights Nursery, Inc. at Juniper Level Botanic Gardens is an international mail order nursery, specializing in rare and unusual perennials. The six-acre Botanic Gardens are designed for display, research, and trial purposes and contain over 17,000 different types of plants. The nursery and gardens are only open to the public four times each year, two weekends each in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
