Daniel F. Bethune, 85 of Bunnlevel, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his home. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Johnny Felton and Mary Stewart Bethune Wagstaff. Mr. Bethune was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the European Theater. Following his time in the service, he worked at Becker Sand and Gravel and also later sold building supplies for McDonald Lumber Company in Fayetteville.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Bunnlevel Cemetery with Rev. Dan Deaton and Rev. Paul Fowler officiating. Following the graveside service, a memorial service was held at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. The family received friends following the service and at other times at his home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bunnlevel Ruitan Cemetery Fund, c/o Larry Edwards, 6205 Hwy. 401 S., Bunnlevel, NC 28323.

Mr. Bethune is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ramona Johnson Bethune; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Martin and Coleen Bethune of Lillington and Johnny Richard and Becky Bethune of Bunnlevel; grandsons, Jonathan Bethune and wife Billie of Sanford, Justin Bethune of Lillington, Eric Bethune and wife April of Virginia, Mark Bethune and wife Amanda of Dunn; and six great grandchildren.
