March 1 was the World Day of Prayer. The Kipling United Methodist Church sanctuary opened from 7 a.m. to midnight for prayer.

The UMYF group at Kipling Church sponsored a chili soup, chip, drink and dessert meal on Friday night at the fellowship building; they wish to thank everyone that supported them and helped make their effort a great success.

On Sunday, March 10, the Missionaries at Bethlehem AME Zion Church are sponsoring service at 3 p.m. All missionary ladies wear white and their missionary stoles; the men that have stoles are asked to wear their stole dark suits.

The missionary theme is “Maximizing Our Purpose Continuing Our Journey through Mission Education, Christian living and mission ministry.”

The guest speaker is Rev. Keith Wooten, pastor, and congregation of Rogers Chapel CME Church of Holly Springs. Other guests and choirs are invited to come and be a part in helping to lift up the name of Jesus.

Ms. Annie Bullock accompanied Ms. Patsy C. May of Matthews, Mrs. Judy Owen of Peach Tree City, Ga., and their niece. They attended the wedding and reception of Ms. Sarah Margaret May to Capt. Robert J. Domitrovich III, U.S. Army, at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Cotton Company in Wake Forest.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris May of Wilmington and the granddaughter of Mrs. Patsy Cameron May and the late Reginald May of Matthews. She also is the great granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Cameron (decreased) of Kipling.

Dr. Polly Cameron Haigler, recently retired from the University of South Carolina College of Nursing, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Montreat College in Montreat, N.C. Montreat College is support in part by the Presbyterian Church. Dr. Haigler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Cameron (deceased) of Kipling.
