The Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce currently is accepting nominations for several awards that will be given out at its annual awards banquet on Feb. 15. The “Outstanding Citizen of the Year” Award is given to a member of the local community who has dedicated significant hours to the improvement of our town or a specific segment of our society. Any resident of Fuquay-Varina can nominate a community member for the Outstanding Citizen Award. The nominations are reviewed by a committee made of the last five Outstanding Citizen Award recipients, who review all the nominations in early February and select one standout to receive the award. Chamber staff and Board of Directors do not participate in this process.

Chamber members can submit nomination forms for several other awards that will be awarded that same evening. Large Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year and the Horizon Award are included in that list. Large businesses are defined as those who have more than 10 employees. The deadline for all award nominations is Jan. 31. Nomination forms are located on the Chamber’s website at www.fuquay-varina.com and can be downloaded by clicking on the “Citizen of the Year” icon and looking for the appropriate form link.

The Chamber encourages residents to get involved with the process of selecting the award winners. These awards are coveted by those who receive them, and there are certainly many businesses in town who are worthy of such notoriety. For more information about how to nominate businesses or individuals who have made a contribution, please call the Chamber at 919-552-4947.
