Dear Editor,

As new residents of Fuquay-Varina, we are enjoying our time living in the town limits. We are close to shopping, restaurants, churches, banking and commercial businesses. The services of the town, such as trash pick up, are good. The men that operate the trucks are very careful and do not scatter trash, which is important to me since I have Parkinson’s.

I see some new sidewalks being constructed along Judd Parkway that certainly are a blessing for those who walk or use wheelchairs and or electric carts to get out and about. Not all sidewalks are complete and there are gaps in sections. Sometimes there are sidewalks on one side of the street and not the other side, which is okay if there was a marked place to cross the street.

We enjoy the restaurants in Fuquay, but I notice that many have thresholds that are very difficult to access with a wheelchair or a transport chair. I hope that these restaurants will make their entrances compatible for all.

I thank the town leaders as they struggle to make our city more beautiful and adequate for us all.

Alvin C. Morgan
