Corporal Clara Dula, with the Fuquay-Varina Police Department, was struck by a car this morning at approximately 7:00 am as she began directing traffic in front of Fuquay-Varina High School. Corporal Dula has served as the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Fuquay-Varina High School for the past 2 ½ years and has been a police officer with the FVPD for approximately 6 years. Injuries are non-life threatening and Dula has been taken to Western Wake Hospital.
The driver of the car was Deborah Sheerin of Fuquay-Varina. The accident is under investigation and charges have not been filed at this time.
