The Fuquay-Varina Middle School soccer and volleyball teams had many reasons to show their Bengal Pride this season. Both teams played hard and were competitive in every game and match including both teams winning their last game of the season. The soccer team joined the volleyball team in their “Paws for the Cause” event this year helping to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The teams raffled off soccer and volleyball theme baskets, which were won by Rob Sedivy from Holly Ridge Middle School and Tom McAlonen from Fuquay-Varina Middle School respectively. The theme for this year’s event was “Working Hard to Beat Breast Cancer” and the proceeds went to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Finally, the teams (along with the FVMS Football team) were recognized by the conference with top honors for Sportsmanship. Along with FVMS Football Coach Alan Joyner, Soccer Coach Rodney Jenkins and Volleyball Coach Marcy Smith were very proud of their student athletes this fall.
