Rev. Woodrow Wilson Neal, age 86, of Chalybeate Springs went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Hospice House of Wake Co. Raleigh. Rev. Neal was born on August 28, 1925 in Warren County, NC, the son of the late Ellis Howard Neal and Mamie Hamlet Neal Shearin. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Estelle H. Robertson and Julia H. Myrick and brother, Stanley Hamlet.

Rev. Neal was a US Navy veteran of WWII having served in Bayonne, NJ as a storekeeper. Rev. Neal was a graduate of John Graham High School in Warrenton, NC. He also was a graduate of Campbell College, Wake Forest College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Neal served as a dedicated pastor in many memorable churches throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. His most recent ministry was Director of Stores at Campbell University. After his retirement, he served several years as interim pastor in many wonderful churches. Rev. Neal will be remembered for his jovial personality, compassion and love for everyone.

Funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 3, at Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Greene, Dr. Jerry Wallace, Dr. Jim Foster and Jeffrey Gregg officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family recieved friends Saturday, Sept. 3, at Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church. Rev.

Neal is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Bowles Neal of the home, two sisters, Henrietta H. King of LaGrange, NC and Doris N. Alston (Linwood) of Littleton, NC, brother, Coleman E. Neal (Donna) of Portland, OR and many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to the Woodrow W. and Ruby B. Neal Divinity and Education Scholarship at Campbell University, Buies Creek , NC 27506. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice and Hospice House of Wake County for the extraordinary care, comfort and respect they provided Woodrow during his journey home.
