Carolina Allstars take first at Track and Field Junior Olympic Championship

The Carolina Allstars 4x800 relay opened the Track and Field Junior Olympic Championship with a first place finish. On the medal stand are Elijah Reed, Jamaree Murray, David Hamilton and Parker Lee. They beat their previous best time by 30 seconds to run 8:07.00.

Jamaree Murray ran a sizzling last leg on the 4x400 relay. He received the baton in 4th place and over 30 meters behind 1st place, but caught everyone to give the Carolina Allstars another national title with a time of 3:20.08.

The Carolina Allstars Youth Track & Field team based in Fuquay-Varina competed at the 2012 USATF Junior Olympic Championship. The meet was held at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD July 23-29. The team had eight athletes competing in eleven events. The Carolina Allstars won gold in the intermediate boys (ages 15-16) 4x800m relay team of Parker Lee, Elijah Reid, David Hamilton and Jamaree Murray. The Carolina Allstars also won gold in the 4x400m relay team of Tyler Cook, Elijah Reid, David Hamilton and Jamaree Murray. Jamaree Murray won silver in the intermediate boys 400m and place 4th in the 800m run. Brian Davis achieved all-American honors by placing 6th in the young mens (ages 17-18) 400 meter dash. He will attend NC State in the fall on a track & field scholarship. Brian Williams made all-American by placing 8th in the bantam boys (ages 9-10) 400m dash dash. Parker Lee was in the 11th in the intermediate boys 3000m run.

Women’s Club shares the ‘puppy’ love

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club Public Issues Community Service Program collected items for the SPCA of Wake County from the club members. The group made a delivery Jan. 28 that included eight bottles of bleach, 10 boxes of dog treats, one large container of small dog treats, various small packages of dog treats, paper towels, seven cans of canned dog food, Kitten Chow and a $25 donation.  Darci VanderSlik accepted the donations along with one of the puppies for adoption.
