Tracy Stephenson, town engineer with the Town of Fuquay-Varina, has successfully graduated from the 2012-2013 Municipal Administration Course of the School of Government, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Stephenson was one of 98 officials who graduated the course this year and is one of more than 2,900 officials who have completed the course since it began in 1954.
Stephenson is the seventh Department Head from the Town of Fuquay-Varina to graduate from the Municipal Administration program.
Public Works Director Arthur Mouberry, Inspections Director Kathy Vaughan, Planning Director Mike Sorensen, Public Utilities Director Jay Meyers, Information Technology Director Scott Clark and Police Chief Larry Smith are previous graduates of the program designed for managers, department heads and officials whose responsibilities require a broad understanding of functions beyond individual areas of specialization.
The course is approximately 150 hours in length with more than 60 instructors participating in the program. Course instruction covers North Carolina local government law, organization and management, finance and budgeting, employment law and administration, planning and regulation of development and the delivery of specific city or county services.
Stephenson is a graduate of N.C. State University with a degree in Environmental Engineering and lives in Angier with his wife, Allison, and their daughters, Reagan and Addison.
“We congratulate Tracy on completing the Municipal Administration Course which is very challenging and requires dedication,” Fuquay-Varina Town Manager Jon Barlow said.
