Tawayne Tawa McNeil, a native of Angier, has independently released the first book of his four-book Evolutions of Brittney serial novel entitled Hard Times: An Erotic Thriller.

McNeil has authored 15 novels in four years. He has been featured on Blog Talk Radio and “DP Radio Presents,” and has hosted many events around the country.

He was born in Durham and grew up in Angier where he attended Angier Elementary School, Angier Middle School and Lillington Middle School. He attended Harnett Central High School for his freshman and sophomore years, but later transferred to Fuquay-Varina High School for the remaining years.

McNeil did not find high school challenging enough. He dropped out his senior year and attended Earle C. Clements Job Corps in Morgan Field, K.Y. After graduating with a degree as an electrician, he pursued a career in engineering.

In 1997, McNeil sought another challenge and joined the U.S. Marines. He served with the Marines for a brief term before receiving a Studies in English Literature (S.E.L.) degree and returned to school to further his knowledge in the electrical field.

After getting a job with a small electrical company, he determined that the electrical field was not for him. He decided that he wanted to pursue writing and movie-making instead.

Over the next 10 years, McNeil wrote several poems, attended many poetry houses for open-mic nights, participated in “poetry slams” and received recognition for his talent with words. In 2007, McNeil published his first poem, entitled “Why Do Men Cheat,” and received praise for his works.

After submitting his poems to online publishers, he won the People’s Choice Award and Editor’s Choice Award. Also in 2007, he created his own writing label, Versatile Writing & Movie Making, and wrote his first movie script entitled “Lost Soul.”

McNeil pursued the craft of filmmaking, but without having the resources or the knowledge to create a film, he abandoned the project and returned to writing poetry and picked up the talent of writing short erotic stories.
