The Center Stage School of Performing Arts dance teams attended the Star Systems Dance Competition in Raleigh, April 26 through 28. All four senior and teen soloists placed in the top 10 lineups (Rachel Petherbridge, first overall senior, Kati Wrenn, third overall senior, Lauren Sago, fifth overall senior and Carey Barnette, second overall teen and highest studio solo score).
Barnette and Petherbridge also won the teen lyrical duet/trio division, and placed first overall for teen duets. Isabella White placed first overall in junior tap and ninth overall for all juniors. Junior tap trio Hannah Poplin, Gretchen Sargent and McKenzie Penny placed first overall in their category and second overall for junior duets.
The mini clogging team placed second in their category, and the junior clogging and tap teams both won first place in their respective categories, and first and fifth place in the overall awards. The senior clogging, tap and contemporary teams also won first place in their categories and placed first, third and fourth overall. With all of the top-level placements, Center Stage School of Performing Arts was awarded the Best Studio Award for the Shooting Star division of the competition—a high honor recognizing the overall performance and technical abilities of the studio dancers of all ages.
