On Oct. 16, Fuquay-Varina Town Commissioners approved a waterline project that will add 8,100 linear feet of waterline along Wilbon Road and connect to Holly Springs’ water system via water transmission line on Piney Grove Wilbon Road. Construction of the new waterline is expected to increase the town’s water supply by one million gallons per day and potentially provide an attractive economic development opportunity for prospective developers in that area.
The Town plans to pay for the Wilbon Road waterline project through an installment purchase loan in conjunction with retiring a higher interest loan. This will ultimately lower the Town’s annual debt payment. Construction is tentatively scheduled to being in February 2013 with completion in June 2013. Withers & Ravenel has been engaged to provide engineer design services.
