Apex, NC – 14 October 2009 – The pilot episode of “The Rusty Bucket Kids Club” television show is in full production. The show is being produced by New Hill and Apex based Studio in the Woods, Inc and Los Angeles based Simon Barron Productions. The show’s creator is John M. Demers. John and his wife Michelle are the Executive Producers and are from New Hill, NC. Locations include the Town of Apex, NC, which plays the fictional Peak City, North Carolina, home to The Rusty Bucket Kids Club. The community of New Hill and the New Hope Valley Railway also serve as locations for this fun show. The show tells us what happens when two children, from today, must travel back in time on a steam engine train to visit historical figures while still in their teens.

“This show represents a new business paradigm, that deals with the web viral side of marketing for both the 24/7 Webisode world and the local broadcast TV station episodes,” said John M. Demers, Executive Producer of the show. “Our strong brand loyalty, by customers, plus community wide support at all levels, business, citizens, and government, shall translate into new viewer ship for the show. Every station manager I have talked to has made it clear that they are looking for ways to reduce costs and increase revenues in these challenging financial times for the broadcast TV industry. Our new business model will make us their new “Partner in Profit.”

Using locations with real businesses such as “The Peak City Grill, The Peak City Pharmacy, All booked up, Anna’s Pizzeria and of course The Rusty Bucket all within the Historic district can benefit businesses looking to attract more customers in a new and dynamic way. In addition, local actors and local crews all get to work and go home to bed. Only two staff members are from LA. This series promises to provide a wholesome, educational, entertaining alternative to other programming that targets teens. I know younger children will watch, so we have made the show family friendly. Face it-this show is superior to the type of programming created elsewhere. Even our music is beyond the stars. CenterSound Recording artist G.W. Pierce brings original music to the opening and closing of the show. G.W. has already started performing dates in the triangle. Take a listen at the website.

Kevin Robert McDermott, the director, from Los Angeles, now living in Apex, NC states, “Casting is easy. North Carolina has plenty of talent and we don’t need to leave the local area to find professional actors.” Cast regulars are Charley Gaddy, the retired and noted news anchor of WRAL TV, as Grandpa Peakssen. Roxanna and JohnColeman Demers play Grandpa Peakssen’s grandchildren who learn from their grandfather that they have been chosen to travel back through time, on old Steamy at the Rail yard. Steamy is played by engine no 17 of the New Hope Valley Railway and the caboose. Mark Roberts, also of WRAL fame, plays the Town Manager Nate Weever; Akin Williams plays Nate’s foster child Miles. Other cast members include Claudio Oswald Niedworok, Irene Santiago, Pablo Vega, Amber Deelon Rustin, Evan Lopez, Michael Greene, Catherine Sewell, Jacques K. Gilbert, Jess Barbour, Marissa Begin, Chuck Morton, Genie Balmer, and Riley the dog.

Guest stars for the pilot are of note. Scott Taylor, a 16 year old and life long resident of Fayetteville, NC, will define the 15-year-old Abe Lincoln. Executive Producer John Demers the shows’ creator believes that being a home schooler has helped Scott take the time to know the true Abe Lincoln. Scott has touched the soul of Abraham Lincoln with what Abe must have been dealing with at that impressionable age. Demers points out, “We all remember many prominent people in history, like my favorite president Abraham Lincoln. Sadly, history has many films and documentaries about Lincoln, so we could not do another piece without a real twist and so we see a teenage Abe Lincoln with all the youth, vigor, and pressures of any young American teen today. Scott’s performance as Abe Lincoln is one of the finest performances I have ever seen. People who come to the theatrical premiere in November will be moved by seeing Scott’s Lincoln.”

Many prominent citizens of Apex will also be seen in recurring roles as the series progresses, including the Honorable Keith Weatherly, Mayor of Apex. In addition, the Ambassador of Apex and the Chamber of Commerce, J. C. Knowles, will participate,

Discussions have begun with a couple of local television stations in the Raleigh/Durham area. A number of TV markets across the country have already expressed interest in the show, and are considering it as part of their programming in February when the show will officially launch.
