An estate sale has been scheduled for July 25 at the home place of the late Woodrow W. and Zazelle Johnson, l05 West Spring Street.

Antiques, glassware, furniture, jewelry, pictures and more will be auctioned beginning at 10 a.m.

The Johnson house and the property on which it is located will also be for sale. Becky Medlin of Becky Medlin Realty is handling the house sale. She will be present on the day of the auction to show the home to potential purchasers. Ms. Medlin said Monday appraisers are currently examining house and land to determine an appropriate sale price.

The Town of Fuquay-Varina leases the lower portion of the Johnson property fronting on West Spring Street, between one and two acres, for use as a park. The historic Fuquay Spring is located in the park.

The recently revised agreement between the Johnson heirs, Hettie Greenway Johnson and Connie Johnson Graham, and the town states the lease is to run year-to-year. In the past it was set up as a 20 year agreement with a provision that it could be re-examined and possibly changed at the end of each five-year period. The current lease expires Feb. 28, 2010.

The new lease further states that the town has first right of refusal to purchase

the land it leases at such time as the lessor sells the residential dwelling located at 105 West Spring Street.

A preview of items to be sold at the estate sale will be held Thursday, July 23, from 4 until 7 p.m. The auction is being handled by Village Square Auctions of Efland, L. B. Daniel Auctioneer.
